CHM 4253 - Selected Topics in Chemistry


This is an advanced undergraduate course designed for majors in the natural sciences that introduces the principles of organometallic chemistry. Topics will include general properties of organometallic complexes, various structures and types of bonding, coordination chemistry of different ligand types, fundamental reactions and mechanisms, organometallic catalysis, and special topics including biochemical catalysis. At the end of this course students should demonstrate skill in reading and critiquing scientific articles within this subject area. This course may be repeated up to two times with different topics.
Prerequisites: Junior-level status and CHM 2211C with a grade of "C" or better.
