MAT 0028 - Elementary Algebra

This course is designed to help students develop the basic skills necessary for success in MAT 1033, Intermediate Algebra.  The course involves a variety of teaching and learning methods, including lab-enhanced learning, lecture, discussion, cooperative learning, and others.  The major topics in the course are real numbers and their properties, exponents and polynomials, linear equations and linear inequalities, as well as an introduction to applications, factoring, rational expressions, radicals (square roots), and graphing in two variables.  This course does not apply toward the associates degree.
Prerequisites: Appropriate score on a college placement test; or completion of MAT 0018 with a grade of "C" or higher.

Contact Hours: 8 contact hours: Lab-based learning, lecture, discussion, cooperative learning and other relevant instructional methods.
Student Advising Notes – MAT 0028 (Elementary Algebra) will replace MAT 0024 (Elementary Algebra).
