Following this program, you’ll be ready and well qualified for employment right away in entry-level positions in the aviation maintenance industry with excellent promotional opportunities into maintenance management positions. If you already hold an FAA A&P certificate, you have the opportunity to earn college credit by evaluation of this certificate, and then pursue an A.S. degree by satisfying the General Education and Professional Elective course requirements. This program will also meet your needs if you already have a two- or four-year degree and are seeking new employability skills.
When seeking an associate in science degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, you may complete the course requirements in both the airframe mechanic and powerplant mechanic certificates at Florida Coast Career Tech. These courses or an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certificate will articulate into this A.S. degree as 60 transfer credits. An additional 23 hours of academic courses will complete the degree.
The mission of the Aviation Maintenance Management program is to serve the air transportation industry with highly trained individuals having the knowledge and skills for entry-level management in the aviation maintenance industry. Through practical training and education on Federal Aviation Administration standards on the methods, techniques, and skills through realistic experience with aircraft, avionics, engines and their subsystems, the program produces qualified airframe and powerplant technicians ready to perform and manage aviation maintenance.
Certification and Licensing
With the successful completion of this program, students will be prepared to take the FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certification examinations.
The program complies with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 147 and is FAA certified.
